I really like the place. Went here my first time 9 years ago and am hooked with a nostalgic craving every now and then. The dishes are always memorable compared to other places I have gone to. It is good place to socialize with family members and friends.
Great, Fresh Seafood in the East Bay at a Reasonable Price. It's rare that a restaurant's food is so good from the appetizer all the way through dessert. The location's a little small and somewhat loud, but the delicious, fresh and beautiful food makes those issues just minor considerations. The crab, tuna, shrimp, lobster, salmon and bass were all done just right, even the salads and soups were incredibly tasty. All of the seafood was very fresh, the flavors were unique but familiar, and the service was quite friendly and attentive. Marica provides an excellent dining experience that deserves greater attention and appreciation.
Disappointing. As a frequent user of Citysearch, I took a chance when I saw this place had not been reviewed in about 18 months. Also, the menu looked very good and the prices seemed decent. Service was a disjointed at best and waited awhile before even getting water and bread. Butternut Squash soup was decent. It went downhill from there. Ahi was caked in wasabi. Interesting trick to try to hide the less than prime cut of tuna. Lobster was dried out seemingly from sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. Fine place to take your midwest parents if they're paying and don't care about food. Not the type of experience you should expect to pay for in the Bay Area.
BIG undiscovered gem. MARICA ROCKS and is a huge value. I eat at Gary Danko and Michael Mina regularly and know high end food. Compared to those places Marica is 80% there at less than half the price. The flavors are bright and strong but very well executed. Seafood really shines here so always have the lobster or crab or crabcakes or scallops (you get the idea) if they are on the menu. East bay residents, this is a no-brainer. SF residents will find this place well worth the drive.
Fabulous. The place is small but very accomadating. The service is great and you are made to feel special. The food is very fresh and tasty. There is a good selection of wines and other beverages and the desserts are great. The only down fall is the parking. Overall I rate the resturant with four stars. I definitely recommend Marica as a resturant to visit.
Seafood affair. Tried the salmon, mahi-mahi, swordfish combo. Fish was nicely done. Soy sesame sauce on the side could have used some punch. Crab salad, like a chicken salad: was on a bed of avocado mousse, great together! Ahi plate was unique because of the sesame seed crust. Mashed potatoes were admirable but not show stoppers, Salad Frisee, gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, pears and beets was bursting with flavor and texture. The service was prompt. On the right track.
Good Choice for Seafood in Rockridge. Rockridge still offers the best selection of restaurants in the east bay. Marica is a solid choice with great seafood and a good atmosphere.
Your Basic California Cuisine. Not that it's a bad thing. Ate there once when it first opened. Left very happy and full. Tried to go back but was rebuffed by a rude host. The food was good and the place always seems packed. They also have a prix fix menu that is a very good value.
