An Athens-inspired outdoor venue on the UC-Berkeley campus..
Funded by a donation from William Randolph Hearst in 1903, this 8,000-seat amphitheater exudes the unmistakable influence of ancient Greek architecture. Concrete risers and an expansive column-backed stage lie entirely under the open sky and aid in the acoustics. Used primarily for rock concerts, political speeches and campus rallies, the theater has hosted performers and speakers such as the White Stripes, the Dalai Lama and Janet Reno.
