ROACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I bought Chickan Tikki Masala on 9/29/11 at 8pm and found a ROACH in my food at 8:30pm! So after vomiting for quite a while.... I took the food back with the ROACH and got my money back.

I would NEVER go back there again. BEWARE OF ROACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was soooo nasty! Pardon me while I go vomit again just thinking about it!

Non-indian taste. The service is great and the decor of the place is good, but don't go there if you want the real taste of India (I am Indian). The food seems to be very "Americanized"...Go to India Palace in Alameda for the best indian food around. They also charge the same rate and have good buffet deals

Khana peena # 1. It is cool place for Indians as well as American. Lunch Buffet any day, baby!!! I believe its still about $10 and a drink.

They always have a great selection of 4 vegetarian and 2 meat dishes. Endless yummy Naan by the basket, rice and sauces. Fantastic deal for the great food you can consume, always friendly servers, and a beautiful heated outside patio. They deserve five stars

Best Indian restaurant in the bay area. First time I went to Khana Peeena, I was a bit reluctant - I saw one bad review suggesting the food was not fresh (and needing to go to the bathroom after). Then I realized they opened a branch just in front of another good Indian restaurant, so I took the chance (as it looked clean and nice from the outside).

That has been 4 months ago. I live nearby and it has become my favorite restaurant. I go there at least once a week (and that's a lot, considering the variety of restaurants around).

Since then, I brought a lot of friends and we all agreed - great value for your money. This is were I go when I feel like "home cooking" (and I am not an Indian).

Service is great, sometimes a bit slow (but not more than you'd expect from an Indian restaurant).

P.S. - This review refers Rockridge branch (the one on college).

Another thing - I eat mostly vegeterian food - they have a huge list of great vegeterian dishes.

My friends tried, of course, the other non-vegeterian dishes and loved them. I can only tell about the vgeterian part of the menu (and I LOVED the naans).

Bottom line: my favorite Indian restaurant in the bay area!

Best place!. I went to this restaurant after being told highly of it by my associates at work and friends. I am a recurrent diner and have tried pretty much everything in the Bay Area. However i was surprised that i had missed out on such an astounding place. The food was simply remarkable and the place had an incredible ambience. The music was perfect which complemented the food, wine dcor and the service. I was told to make reservations but since I had not been to Khana Peena I decided not to. On a Monday night I had to wait 25 mins for a table. But at the end the wait was well worth it. Khana Peena definitely earns its merits through its service and an amazing dcor.Khana Peena is definitely on my favorite list. Try it out.

Pros: Startling Decor, Superb Service

Creepy manager.. This place is wierd. The decor looks nice and the food is okay but the manager is kind of sleazy and he humiliated the bus boy right in front of us. That just ruined my meal.

If you want to be ill........ We went to Khana Peena on Solano this weekend and had their buffet lunch. Now, I know that's always a bit of a risk, but because we had been to this particular restaurant about few times before - and it was OK - we thought we'd give it another try. However, both my boyfriend and I woke up at 2 am and had major problems with our digestive tract. We know for a fact that it was not indigestion since it took the typical 10-12 hours to incubate before the explosions happened and we hadn't eaten anything for 6 hours prior or anything at all after.

We highly recommend that anyone steers clear of this place!

Lots of choices, great naan. Khana Peena is good, not excellent Indian food, but the atmosphere is lovely and the waitstaff is very attentive. The Thalis are a good value but the flavors aren't out of this world. It's consistent, and there are plenty of options.

Editorial Review. Contemporary setting for Northern Indian cuisine wins fans with its 15-item, all-you-can-eat daily lunch buffet and cozy private dining rooms.

Weak. Just your typical blob of Indian food; taste quality and quality of spices not up to par with other Indian restaurants in the area. Service was spotty and some of the staff was rude.
