What People Are Saying About California Memorial Stadium

In Short
Boasting a capacity of more than 71,000, the stadium is appropriately raucous and loud for football games against Pac-10 rivals like UCLA, USC and especially the much-hated Stanford Cardinal. Thanks to the configuration of the venue, which is modeled after the Colosseum in Rome, even cheap seats feel close to the action. Located in Strawberry Canyon, the stadium offers superb views of San Francisco Bay, pine-topped Berkeley hills and the UC Berkeley Campanile tower.

Thankfully, the hideous artificial turf is gone -- hopefully forever. The atmosphere is exactly how i should be for college football -- right on campus, huge, packed with benches. The "Pride of California" marching band is the best in the land -- please, don't go changing the pre-game performance.

Know Before You Go:
Parking, both on the street and in the few lots, is extremely difficult on game day. Save the headache and take BART to the Berkeley station, then follow the blue-and-gold crowd.
Look Good:
The Bears host the "Big Game" against Stanford every other year. It's always a tough ticket, so buy tickets in advance.
