Editorial Review for Bliss Bar – by Gina Goff
In Short
Despite the denim-clad crowd, the decor evokes a clubby atmosphere with industrial fixtures juxtaposed against crimson leather-padded walls. For those who are into accessorizing with colorful cocktails, the signature 24th Street cosmo is pink and fruity, and more than a dozen specialty martinis are also available. Waitresses ease the wait time for drinks, so patrons can sit back and listen to the DJ's eclectic soundtrack (Wednesday-Sunday). Other nights, lounge-y tunes waft through the space at conversation-appropriate levels.

This place is for people from the Marina and Walnut Creek, who feel like doing something "different" and find the Mission scene too scary. And it's loud dance music, not lounge music. Average cocktails.

I recently moved to the Noe area and expected a nice, local, low-key place to hang out. But it was incredibly loud, not at all the mellow, lounge-y place I expected based on user and editorial reviews. We went for drinks and the DJ kept cranking it up little by little until it was intolerable. My ears were still ringing the next day. Plus, the crowd was not local, some were really young, not a sophisticated group at all. One was parked on 24th St with car doors open and stereo blasting the area for blocks. How young do you have to be to think that's cool? Noe is populated by young professionals who would like a cool, lounge-y bar to hang out at, rather than just sports bars. This is not it. Truly, the nice drinks and appearance of this bar cannot make up for the unsavory crowd and ridiculous noise level.
Pros: can't make up for the loudness
Cons: SO LOUD you can't talk without screaming in each other's ears
