Bad Customer Service. The customer service at this place is absolutely horrible. They are rude and obnoxious. We bought over $3,000 worth of merchandise and from this place and when we went back, the person at the counter, which I believe is the owner of the establishment, refused to give us a box when we told him that the one they gave broke. Instead, he said that the box is $10 if we want to purchase it from him. He was very rude and said, "I do not care if you don't come back". I had a previous bad experience with them when they did not fix a set of earrings for a wedding set we bought. We gave them this set for over 3 months and they did not fix it. This is how they treat customers. I do not know about the other reviews but the negative ones are spot on.
Very good experience.
I was terrified to go into the place as I have no experience with buying Indian apparel.
I must compliment the staff as they made me feel quite comfortable. I knew the style I wanted & they produced several fine examples for me. Finally after getting my size right, the woman serving me brought me a beautiful churridar suit - exactly what I wanted, right color, right fabric, right amount of embellishment.
They altered it for me in 20 minutes & it was done very well.
Bad Bad Customer Service.
I used to love SP-surely they were the best Indian clothing store in the area & had good selection. However, I recently had a nightmare experience w/ them over my wedding outfit.I went in at the beginning of the yr looking for a sari I could make into a wedding dress. I was assured by them that I should bring in material instead & have them custom embroider it. So, I brought in my silk material in Jul (all pre-cut). I showed them pictures of what I wanted & my dressmaker had put pins on sides she wanted the embroidery. They told me it would be back in Aug.
I got it back a week into Sept (already late for my dressmaker) & it was completely, utterly wrong. I panicked but held it together & didn't lose my temper. Everyone makes mistakes, right? It went back to India, & didn't come back until late Sept. When it did, it looked ok to me. However, when my dressmaker got a hold of it, she told me that not only was the embroidery on the wrong side of the material on some of the pieces, the border pieces that had to be completely redone because of the original mistakes all came back 1.5-2 inches short. She had to spend extra time fixing things, & of course it cost me more.
I called the Sari Palace people & they refused to even believe they could have messed up again. They said that to get a refund, I would have to return all the pieces (the ones I provided!). I pointed out if I did, I would not have a wedding dress (due to the fact that I got the material back a month late!!!). They didn't care. I made a complaint to the BBBureau but still SP refused to make any concessions regarding the mistakes w/ the final product. I finally had to get some of my money back (they charged me just over a $1000, & I asked for $300 to cover my extra dressmaker charges) through the credit card company. Their behavior & customer service (Asha Thakkar's) still burns me. I won?t be shopping there in the future. I could not believe the owner's attitude, esp. since the mistakes were SP?s fault!
