In Short – Once inside this art-deco coffee shop, with its tall white walls and flashes of chrome and neon, diners will find just what the staff T-shirts assert--friendly service and good food. Pancakes, Bette's claim to fame, are pleasantly fluffy and lightly sweet. Buttery omelettes are served with thick, yummy fried potatoes and a tall, crumbly muffin. Lunch dishes include a selection of tasty, traditional sandwiches, such as roast beef and chicken salad.

Greatest breakfasts anywhere!

by Johnette at Citysearch

I have read some weird reviews about this place!

This is the best breakfast diner anywhere! I drive 30 miles several times a year to eat there. Their Lemon Ricotta pancakes are superb, & sausages top-of-the line! The wait staff is FAST & EFFICIENT, & the host is QUICK, pleasant & accomodating. I cannot underStand ANYONE not being happy to eat there!

Nice omelet

by rowdyricky at Citysearch

Ola! Well on a whim I decided to try this place out. It was Saturday morn and it was busy. But I got lucky and was able to park IFO ( in front of) the place. There was list and a wait of 45 minutes. A couple said they were told 45 mins. too,but waited 20. So we sat in our car and waited. It was a balmy 70, clear skies a bit of wind but a beautiful day. A lot of people decided to not wait. I got impatient at 40 minutes went to ask and they gave me a table on the sidewalk. So I am a happy troop-per. The waiter was very fast nice and reeled off the specials. But I decided against them and my wifey , Andreia, stayed with her mundane pic, LOL.

I read the menu and was curious about their 3 egg omelet with country potatoes .sour cream and scones. Wifey had short stack and scrambled eggs ,hard cook.

2.25 for one egg 2.75 for two eggs I told her go for the two.

short stack 4.95

My breakfast was 7 or 8.95 ham and cheese omelet .

Well whoop my bunda and put me out to dry. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BREAKFAST I have ever. OUTSTANDING.

It is cooked ,per the menu ,in a french style. The eggs were creamy to the mouth and cheese was great. Ham was fine not too overwhelming.

I always pepper and hot pepper my egg. This time very little. and only a dash of salt. out of habit I think.

So I will be back for dinner and lunch. It is worth the wait and I am a impatient person

  • Pros: Excellent food
  • Cons: too popular

Really good pancakes

by winniepong at Citysearch

I have to say Bette's makes the best pancakes in town. I had the banana sour cream pancake and it was screaming good. I went there with my 9 months old little boy and he was ready to stick his hands in the plate. Overall, the wait was a little long. But the pancake really made my day. :)

  • Pros: pancakes, pancakes, pancakes
  • Cons: long wait

GREAT BREAKFAST

by felnbad at Citysearch

Bette's has fantastic Breakfasts. The Lox and Eggs are fantastic. The portions are a little small and the prices are a little high, but the quality makes up for the negatives. The long lines exist because so many people agree that the food is wonderful. I dislike going to the snooty, corporate 4th Street area, but I'll venture there any morning for Bette's breakfast.

  • Pros: Food quality, funky "old time" diner appearance
  • Cons: Corporate area, difficult parking, slightly high prices, waits

Slow, boring, cramped but great if you like burnt food

by mellyb444 at Citysearch

This place is WAY overrated and should be avoided. Long waits for, at best, mediocre food. Blueberry pancakes were nothing special and burnt. Toast was burnt, polenta that came with daily special was completely charred on the bottom but it was replaced after about 10 minutes of trying to get the attention of a server. Our server was actually very nice but the host made a point of coming to our table to chastise us because we had evidentally heard the wrong name called and were seated when somebody else was supposed to be (which we certainly did not do intentionally) We also had the same thing happen that somebody else has mentioned regarding a beverage brought in from outside. Our friend was given a glass to put his drink in but when he explained that it came from Bette's To Go (right next door), he was allowed to keep it in the plastic cup. GET REAL!!
