Try Flan!. I went Picante for the first time tonight (Sunday). I got there at 7PM and it was REALLY crowded. There were around 30 people in front of me in line. However, the staff was very efficient and we turned out only wait for 15 minutes, which is acceptable. The food is pretty impressive, great taste, great value. And dont forget to try their Flan (baked custard) next time. It is SO GOOD. I can go to the restaurant again just for the Flan. Highly recommend if you want quality Mexican food with great value.

Has it gone downhill?. We went to Picante recently and were very disappointed.

I used to look forward to their chips......they were light

crunchy and tasty! They were the best around.

The chips we had recently were stale,

overcooked chips from possibly yesteday's tortillas.

Our dinner plates were at least 1/3 smaller than the same

dinners we had 6 or 7 months ago. The food has never

been great or authentic but that day it was very "so-so."

We have never been too fond of the "ambience" there.

It is always very noisey and it always seems too claustraphobic. A lot of customers are rude and snobby......it makes the atmosphere very unfriendly.

The STAFF however is always very nice and welcoming.

Delicious Picante!. My husband & I come here almost every time we are craving a delicious burrito. Our favorite is the chorizo y pappas. We get a large glass of the agua frescas to wash it down.

Prices are great and portions are big! A regular burrito will fill you up fine, but you can get a super if you really think you can handle it. =) They also have dinner plates if you're really hungry.

The atmosphere is casual and friendly. You can easily come here with family and friends, get seated and have a fun & filling dinner.

Only burritos in the Mission are any better than this!
