In Short – This educational salon offers chairs helmed by apprentice, junior and full stylists, with prices varying accordingly. The high ceilings and light wood floors give this corner salon a light and airy ambience. Customers come from all over the Bay Area for a cut, color, styling or treatments such as thermal reconditioning (hair straightening).
I LOVE Festoon!

What makes Festoon special is that you can count on a hair style that is uniquely tailored to flatter your features. It's definitely not a cookie-cutter approach to hair cuts like so many other places. They have the artistic sensibility I have always been looking for.
I lived in Europe for a couple of years and generally got the best hair cuts ever; they approached hair cutting as an art. When I came back to the Bay Area I tried out many places to find the same level of quality and attention. I found this at Festoon. Their hairstylists are remarkably consistent. I would trust my hair with any one there. For me, Festoon is my HAIR SALON FOR LIFE!
- Pros: Hairstyling with Artistic Flair & Sophisticated Sensibility
- Cons: You must book weeks ahead of time
Bruno is fabulous!

I have been going to Festoon for quite a while. I first went there because I was on a very limited budget, but needed a hair cut. After being a model for a few students, I met Bruno. I am proud to say, that I am one of Bruno's oldest (not in age) clients,as I have been going to Bruno now for over 5 years, and I have always been very satisfied. I get positive comments on my hair cut almost weekly. I look forward to my hair cut appointments because of our stimulating and humorous conversations. I work late and usually can't come in until the end of the day, and Bruno has always been very accommodating, even staying late and forgoing dinner so fit me in.
If you are looking for a modern and flattering haircut, and a good time (wink, wink :) make an appointment with Bruno at Festoon.
- Pros: friendly and hip atmosphere, Bruno is wonderful!, great products, parking is easy to find
Not returning to Festoon

I've been getting my hair cut at Festoon on a recommendation from a friend living in the East Bay (I recently moved from SF over here). I went for a couple of hair cuts and was relatively happy with the service. I went on Friday to get a cut and the person cutting my hair didn't listen to what I wanted and I ended up leaving the salon not being happy with my hair. I wanted to tell her before I left but she already had another client waiting for her so I didn't feel like I could make that person wait any longer. I called the next day and mentioned to them that I wanted to come back in to get my cut fixed and the receptionist was very accommodating and fit me in right away. I went in and was able to get a cut that is more of what I wanted (although, it's not exactly - and I don't think I'm trying to get anything fancy, just a bob that doesn't look like it belongs on a soccer mom). I thought this "fix" was going to be complimentary (or at least, discounted) since it was actually an extension of the previous day's cut. I was shocked when I was charged for a full price cut on my way out. With tipping the stylists and paying for two haircuts, I've now invested $150 in a hair cut that I don't love. If I was planning on spending that much on a cut, I would have gone to a different salon. I will not (nor will any of the friends I've talk to about this) be going back to Festoon. We all think that they should have better customer service then that. I'm actually disappointed b/c overall I liked the salon.
- Cons: terrible customer service
