Their coffee is quite good and gives Northside a good source for a decent cup of joe. The service is fairly quick given that it's a family business and the people there are always friendly. A drink and a bagel with cream cheese will go for under $5 which is a decent price to pay in my opinion. There's a huge smoothie selection which is unique to Brewed Awakening. I don't typically study at coffee shops, so I cannot speak to how that experience is at Brewed Awakening. In my experience and opinion, it's certainly worth visiting. And revisiting.

I live just down the street from Brewed and I love it. It's a great place to meet friends, and it's always crowded and noisy. If you want a more intimate atmosphere, I'd suggest a quieter cafe. However, the guys (and gals?) who work behind the counter are great.

The main drawback of this family-run coffee shop is the early (7pm) closing hour which prevents it from becoming the main study & hang-out place for late-birds in north berkeley. But if you get your act together earlier ... this is a place to put in a 4 hour study shift fueles by a coffee, a cookie, and a refill. Yes ... there is free wireless.
