good food. great food! love their scrambles, have been back several times. however be warned their service is very slow, especially when the restaurant is full. not alot of waitstaff working/per amount of customers that regularly show up every saturday and sunday. Def recommend trying this one out on a weekday.
Breakfast so good, I went twice in one day!. The service was just a teeny bit slow when it came to refilling our waters (perhaps because we were sitting on the outdoor patio, which by the way, has a great atmosphere for having breakfast, brunch or lunch). However, the food was amazing. As suggested by one of the reviewers, I ordered the sweet cream crepes with raspberry compote and whipped cream. So delicious! At only $6.95, it was a great price for a gourmet brunch. Later, I came back for lunch and I ordered their California Crepe. Delicious and huge! It was stuffed with cheese, mushrooms, and avocadoes. It was also served with a large portion of breakfast potatoes and sweet rings of carmelized onions. At $7.95, it was a great price for this pretty large and delicious portion. Not very busy when we were having brunch (10:30-11:30AM), but it was getting full as we left during lunch time! Nice, very cute place, friendly service :) I am coming here again!!
Delicious Sweet Cream Crepes!. Wholey mole! Order the sweet cream crepes with blueberries and the Santa Fe skillet with cheddar cheese! Orange juice is freshly squeezed and sweet yumyumminess! I'm going back tomorrow morning for breakfast! I bet it's an awesome view upstairs, but it was raining so I couldn't go today :( Quick service, cute lil place and a nice cupcake bakery in same plaza. I dont know what the bad commenters are talking about.
Great place to relax and enjoy good food. The new owners since a year ago have made abig difference. Service is improved and food is more consistant. The upstairs deck is a lot more relxing and the new paint and wall coverings are a huge step. The bayview and the surrounding plants and flowers on the deck makes great ambience for breakfast. Food selction can be better and the sound quality of music is not the best but then you can not expect the best on all fronts. The presence of the owners with thier welcoming face is a sea change comparing to before.
Iffy - Sometimes They Get It Right ....
Chester's is weird and always has been. It has new owners, and it is still weird. They open and close at different times, the waitstaff is sometimes prompt, sometimes non-existent (and it has nothing to do with how busy they are), and the "ambience" feels more like it belongs in a strip mall rather than a cozy nook in North Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto.
They serve the great American breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausage, Benedictine eggs, etc. - and it is usually pretty tasty, but there is also a need for more attention to healthy eating.
All in all a pretty conservative place that gets regular customers because of the smell of bacon and scramblers wafting through the air....
Ironically, their second floor balcony has one of the best Bridge views of a restaurant in the East Bay, but the management has no idea how to make it work!
good food, great views. Nice casual place to hang out with freinds... good food and great views.
