In true Berkeley fashion, this gourmet ghetto landmark is run as a collective. Menus change daily and are written by hand on butcher paper. The menu changes daily and always contains only a single item--the pizza of the day. Available by slices or the whole pie, the pizzas tend toward the exotic, with locally grown organic toppings, such as roasted yellow peppers, wilted greens and goat cheese.

This place opened up a whole new world of pizza for me. I never knew pizza could come with so many other kinds of pizza. It may seem really crowded, but don't worry, the line is fast. I actually like that it offers only one type of pizza a day because I'm an indecisive person, and there isn't really a bad pizza here.

I LOVE the pizza at Cheese Board. The cheeses are great, I usually love their topings and the crust is the best. I also like not having to decide on what to order. The jazz music gives the place a warm and soothing atmosphere.

Okay I might be exaggerating, but it's definitely up there. Cheeseboard is unique because they only have one type of pizza every day. This might be bad news for people who like specific kinds of pizza. However this is usually not an issue because the pizza is almost always GREAT. They also give you a tiny sliver or two on top of the number of slices you order just as sort of a thank you, which I find kind of nice. The best thing about having only one thing on the menu (besides drinks)? The line moves reaaaally fast. The line may be out the door, but you will have your pizza in just a matter of minutes. They literally hand you your order right after you order it. And it's always fresh. There's usually a little jazz group playing in the corner which gives the place an overall nice and homey feel. Cheeseboard is definitely worth visiting.
