A two-tiered East Bay speakeasy with games galore.. In Short
This comfortable hang features dark booths, pool tables and pinball games. Outside is a patio with Polynesian flair (think tiki torches and bamboo trees). The bar has a faithful blue-collar following, as well as its share of fans from the UC campus. The bartenders are super-friendly and keep dice, cards, cribbage and dominoes behind the counter. There are some free snacks, but patrons are allowed to bring in as much grub as they like--no outside drinks, though. Pool tables downstairs are 25-cents each; upstairs, you can rent tables by the hour.

Great Place. A college bar with a hipster attitude that works. Ground floor has two pool tables and a old man style bar. Outdoor area is fun with the Tiki lamps. Upstairs has a small bar with 3 more pool tables. I've always had fun here and the crowd is friendly.

Great East Bay bar. The Mallard is a great bar with tons of atmosphere. They have the best jukebox (actually two, one for each floor) in the country blasting away a great variety of tunes, with classic funky 70's, new wave, alternative and indie rock, and more. The patio is a great place to enjoy a pint and smoke (or not) - they have heaters for those colder winter nights. Upstairs has three hourly full sized pool tables and lots of nooks and crannies where you can sit. A+. I just returned to the area for a weekend and realized that finding another bar with such a chill atmosphere is almost impossible
