The supposedly fresh fish had the texture OLD ceviche, and a strong odor of Vinegar. When I returned the plate, the Chef loudly berated me while eating the plate of returned fish, he then served the rest of the plate to other patrons in the restaurant. I sure hope I do not have any diseases.
Worth the wait?. Ive been a regular patron of Sugata. The food and service had been quite good consistently. However, since the sushi chefs were replaced, service has gone down hill. My last visit was the worse ever. I waited 40 min. for three orders of sushi rolls. Sushi is good, but it is not worth the wait.
food is good but pricey. for the portions you get, the food is expensive. however, the quality is good and they have some unique fishes. as a previous review pointed out, you have to try the garlic albacore! it is good and worth it! service and decor is like most japanese restaurants. definitely a place to try, but not if you're on a budget.
Authentic. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and generous. The service is friendly and efficient. Try the saba, chirashi, or the tuna. You won't be disappointed.
Hidden Gem in Albany. This is definitely where the locals come for great, quality and unique sushi. The service is very friendly, especially if you sit at the sushi bar. The tuna here is fantastic and the garlic albacore is to die for. This is also great place to try something new as well, like the seasonal samma.
Amazing sushi...and friendly service.. The sushi here is really fresh and delicious. The service is quick and friendly. There is also good Teriyaki if you're not into raw fish. The dining room is a little "cozy," but hardly claustrophobic.
