Store founder Jack Rems says the best moments in life are those that resemble fiction, and that dream is put in motion with his bi-level sci-fi and mystery bookshop. Even the sharpest minds can get lost among the titles, stacked at perpendicular angles on narrow shelves stretching into the depths of the store. Lest the experience become too dark and scary, plastic toys and action figurines are strategically placed in nearly every nook and cranny.

Hits: Trilogy fans should have no fear. While the owner prefers standalone books, he's happy to indulge customers, making available any series they desire.

Misses: There's really no place to read, with rows of books even lined up in the aisles. Make your purchase, then head next door to Semifreddi's for creative reading with coffee.
