isn't great a great word? Their food is delicious and comes in large portions. Sandwiches, soups, and salads are all really good - can't really go wrong. The only problem here is that it is ALWAYS PACKED. Long lines so if you come with someone else you might as well expect to get it to go and eat elsewhere. Takes a while to get your food too, but if you're willing to put up with that your stomach will be pleased.

Caf???? Intermezzo is the perfect soup, salad and sandwich restaurant for students. Not only is it located conveniently on Telegraph Ave., the service is efficient, the portions are HUGE, the price is cheap (between $5-7), and the atmosphere is very student friendly. It is easy to get discouraged by the long lines at lunch hours, however the line moves fairly quickly and seating continuously opens up. Intermezzo is namely well known for their famous ??????poppyseed dressing?????? and ??????honey wheat bread?????? in addition to their enormous portions. Though I typically opt for a salad, my BF raves about their BLTA (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Avocado sandwiches), which is mounted with layers and layers of crispy bacon, ripe avocados and on their honey wheat bread. The drinks are also great, my favorites being strawberry lemonade and strawberry sangria. The only downside is that sometimes I feel the vegetables are not as fresh as they could be but I can??????t complain for the price! Also, though I imagine that the majority of students walk, parking is extremely difficult to find near Telegraph and beware, meter maids are constantly driving around- I got a parking ticket outside Intermezzo last week!

I have been to Cafe Intermezzo every time I have visited Berkeley for years. Now that I live in Los Angeles, I am asking them to ship me their herbal vinigarette so I can close my eyes and pretend I am in the bustle of the cafe itself. The fresh baked bread is worth every carb, and if you ask nice, and you come at the right time, they very well may let you buy a loaf for home! If you are within 50 miles of this place, drive there now and eat a salad, sandwich or soup. If you don't want to do it for yourself, do it for me!!
