Dishonest and sneaky. One star is too good for this place. They use pushy sales tactics to get your money. They are dishonest and greedy. They don't care about customer satisfaction one bit. They pressured me into pre-paying for contact lenses I wasn't sure I was even going to like because they were on sale. After I tried the contacts, they irritated my eyes badly so naturally I wanted my money back, which I should've received because I never even ordered any contacts!! But they were rude and unhelpful and wouldn't give me a refund on something I never even ordered or received. Are you kidding me?? BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU GIVES THEM AN F RATING....explains it all. They just care about taking your $$$.
Customer Service Sucks!!!. I went in last week to get new frames. The main lady that helped me was very insincere. She looked like she was looking right through me the whole time and as if she was just too good to be helping me. Very fake the whole time. I wanted to take advantage of their current deal (which in the end was not deal at all), so I decided to stay. When the lady rung up my sale she added in all these extra charges and never bothered to explain or even acknowledge the charges. Just the worst. I just called a few minutes ago to see if I could find out if my glasses where ready, and the person that answered the phone today was just as rude as the lady that helped me last week. Good grief!! It’s amazing their still in business.
Yikes. Is there something less than one star?? Buyer, please beware! Brought in my old glasses for new lenses (old ones chipped). Was told they were not covered by my insurance (not true!), paid $150 (should have been close to 0), glasses returned 2 weeks later, were unusable. Told that they could not be done, talked into buying new glasses ($350, again told not covered --- yet they filed with insurance for compensation...double dipping, which I will report to BBB and others). New glasses ready in a few weeks, though no phone call when ready. Then told they would repair original glasses for free. One month later, no phone call. Told they were not there when I called. Stopped by today, original glasses were done and perfect. Bait and switch, what I wanted done was finally done, but put out big bucks for job that should have been covered originally. Do they sound like thieves to you? Never again.
Decent Prices and Selection. I think the reviews on here aren't fair to this place. Check it out before you decide. I don't have tons of money and think that this place is good for those of us who can't afford the most expensive pair of glasses. Another place I went to in Berkeley was so snobby--de Visu or whatever it's called. This place wasn't snobby at least.
Be Afraid, be very afraid. Worst customer service I've experienced..
This is by far one of the most disturbing customer experiences I've ever had. Poor customer service, Less than knowledgeable employees. Terrible, and I mean terrible customer service.
Went to get my wife's eyes checked and get new glasses. The store manager helped us pick new frames for her Progressive lenses. Were told 3-4 days. 2 weeks later I called to see where the glasses were. Was told they'd be ready in 2 more days. They weren't ready for 5 more days. Picked them up. They weren't right. My wife couldn't read with them, the main reason she needed glasses. A very rude Optometrist came out of the back and, rather than help, simply gave my wife a hard time. Finally, one of the lab techs came out and simply said the frames are to small for progressive lenses. No room for the reading part of the lense. Remember, it was the store manager that picked the frames out and wrote up the order. So, new lenses had to be ordered, "Access" lenses this time, not "Progressive". We paid more money for the Progressives and should have gotten at least a store credit, right?? After all, the store manager herself picked the wrong frames for Progressive lenses.
There's even more to this horror story. Bottom line? Stay away from this store.
Avoid at all costs. Horrible service all around. If I could give it less than one star I would. They act nice when you first walk in, then give you such horrible attitude after that. It took me over 10 visits to get my glasses and contacts right, and they acted like it was my fault. They lure you in with a deal, then bait and switch you, make you pay in full even if you have insurance, then they have your own insurance reimburse you, which is less as they are contracted to take a certain cost, so you pay more for less. Stay away from this place. Either go down the street to For Eyes, where they are VERY nice and have great service or go to Cal Berkeley eye center, you get a great exam by students, using stuff no regular place has, then you are checked by a regular dr - and parking is free.
A class Act.
After so much trouble other places with my progressive lenses, they really listened to my issues. They carefully explained all my options. I did not realize how different progressive lenses were. They recomended Zeiss lenses. I was a little reluctant because they cost more but when I got them I couldn't believe how great I saw. They seemed very professional and really knowledgable. I was measured carefully and explained my options in great detail.
I'm thrilled with my new glasses, the best I've ever had. After going cheap at Costco I realize sometimes you really do get what you payy for. BTW, I priced my Zeiss lenses at a couple of other places and Site For Sore Eyes was over $100 CHEAPER for the same lenses. Altogether I could not reccomend them more highly.
Do not go there.. Aside from the fast contact lense exam, all aspects of service at this place was below average at best. The manager there was much like a used car sales person. She kept on trying to get me to buy more expensive contact lenses, despite the fact the I've worn same brand of contact lense for over 4 years and made it clear to her that I would have preferred same brand. Another annoying thing was when I asked to use restroom after the exam she replied "We don't have restroom here." Not having restroom available for solictor is one thing, but for customers is a completely different matter. Also, when I did go back to pick up the contact lenses on the day I was supposed to pick them up, their only reply was "it's not here". You would think they would at least call you about expected delay, so that you don't have to wasts your time. I had to take initiaitve and keep calling the shop to see when it will arrive. Since most of the customer are cal students who will likely not going to be a repeat customer, the incentive for management to provide a "good" service for customers is almost non-existent, and it shows.
Best Glasses Buying Experience. Can't say more positive things about these guys. Broke my old glasses, they got me in right away, were incredibly helpful finding the right frame (soo many to choose from), made them right away and I even got a 2nd pair (so I won't have this problem again) FREE. The price I thought was more than fair considering the great service and friendly staff. I, for one am happy and will definately go there again.
Horrible Eye Care Experience. They neglected to tell me that the retail part of the business doesnt take my vision plan (HealthNet Vision PPO) and I would be charged out-of-network fees for the frames and lenses (even though I asked for clarification). I went back to complain and after a lot of hand waving and admitting that his salesperson made math mistakes on the bill, he said that if I file for a reimbursement for out-of-network services from HealthNet Im making out better than I wouldve if I went to an office that was in-network for both exams and frames/lenses. The manger/owner shouldve made the changes/corrections at that moment and explained to me the mistakes, but didn't. I couldnt get a refund even though the glasses arent made yet. So I paid approximately $60 more than I was expecting, wasted most of my afternoon trying to sort this out, and feel completely bamboozooled.
