A Berkeley Chef's Must Shop. People choose where to live to be near the Berkeley Bowl. Tourist's eyes widen when they see the rows and rows of produce, many different varieties of the same fruits the market purchases directly from farms. With great prices, totally fresh produce many of my friends from San Francisco drive to Berkeley just to shop at the Berkeley Bowl. Nuf said?

Berkeley Bowl Following: cult or religion? Religion.. It's a religion. I go every Sunday, I leave feeling happy and at peace, with renewed faith in my fellow man and community. It's one of the only places where I have civilized, friendly interactions with random strangers, who ask: I knew all about Quinoa, but what is that Amaranth stuff you just scooped into your bag? , or "I see you're buying dried skullcap and passionflower in bulk, what on earth is that for?". people strike up conversations in BB. I met my wife there. I got married there. OK just kidding. But what a great place and without the insane prices of the large "green" organicky places. I loved Berkeley Bowl when I was a student, and I love it still.

Berkeley Bowl. Since I moved from San Francisco, a year ago, I have been shopping at Berkeley Bowl. Helpful staff, the store is alway's stocked with what I am looking for. The discount produce section is always a must to stop by. The best grocery store in the East Bay!

Love this place. This place is amayzing. they have all the organic and non organic products you are looking for. they have products from all around the world and it is the best experince to shop there.

Affectionately dubbed "the stroll" by loyal shoppers, this popular marketplace is a budget-conscious organic shopper's oasis.. The Scene
Simply stated, Berkeley Bowl is one of the Bay Area's most beautiful grocery stores. The modern building provides ample light from a wide, well-placed, western-facing skylight. The long, clean rows--stacked with the best organic goods and standard commercial products--are easy to maneuver. Aside from the half-hour lines that can clog up the front of the store (particularly on Mondays), Berkeley Bowl is shopping nirvana.

The Goods
Not only does Berkeley Bowl boast the largest produce department in all of Northern California (be careful, you could get trapped among the citrus and legumes for hours), it also has one of the best international sections. In fact, you'll save yourself a long trip to Chinatown or Japantown in search of Pocky Sticks if you shop here first.

Get your elbows ready. It's a great store -- best produce section for good prices I've ever seen. Just get ready to spend a solid hour to pick up even a few things. Parking, the aisles, the lines -- everything is a hassle. But you won't find rabbit at $4.99 / lb anywhere else.

Fun store!. Great tasting fresh variety of fruits/vegitables w/ competitive prices. Although the grocery workers are not top class, the choices of produce is very overwhelming.

Produce Nirvana!. Ever wonder why you moved to California? The answer is right here in the produce aisles. 20 kinds of oranges, 15 different varieties of plums...the list goes on and on! Not so yuppified as Whole Foods, the BB is an East Bay institution, even in its new spiffed-up incarnation.
