The BBQ I measure all others by.
I have been going to this BBQ for years! With all of the others available in the East Bay, it has been the only one return too. Now that I am living over 100 miles away in Placer County there are two things I notice.
1. When I mention KC BBQ to the owners of the local BBQ shops, (NOT the national chains) they hold KC BBQ in reverence. One owner went as far as to say that KC BBQ is the best on the west coast.
2. If I am visiting Berkeley my family demands that I bring 4 or 5 orders home.
The links and the short end ribs are my favorite. Order them as a 2-Way!

Best Links in the county.....
This resturant (rib joint) is very unique. The setting is antique photos, radios, stoves, and furniture. The recipe for the links is handed down through the family and is made from fresh meat versus, what I call, the standard "Hot Dog" link you get at the other places. I've been eating at this place for over 30 years and I still love it.
Occasionally, you get some links that have been smoked too long and are a little dry but they are still the best. I've eaten at most of the rib places in Berkeley, Oakland & Richmond and I rank this one as the best. Their ribs are smoked and along with their chicken are moist and delicious.

I lived in Kansas City and this in not good Barbeque!.
This is not good barbeque. The sides were horrible and the atmosphere was depressing. There is much better barbeque up the road in Emeryville. I would never go back. I was hoping this place would be like the delicious barbeque I use to enjoy when I lived in KCMO.

Two way.
The sauce has the right amount of spice. The 2 way is the best bet. Friendly atmosphere with great tasting BBQ!!!!

Editorial Review.
Smoky ribs, secret sauce and charming farmhouse decor draw carnivores to this Kansas City-style barbecue shop.

Oh my! This is BBQ at it's best.
I had the ribs. They were moist, tender and delicious! The BBQ sauce had a nice kick to it that enhanced the whole eating experience. There were some sides but I was so stuffed with ribs I could find any room for them!
The service was outstanding and I loved the oldtime environment. I felt like I was eating in the middle of the 18th century.

Don't cost alot but HIT THE SPOT.
I went to KC's BBQ last week because it was next to a tire shop on San Pablo Ave in Berkeley, and I had a flat. I love BBQ but I had read the last rating and it did not look to good. Well, THIS BBQ is great. Maybe the guy went on a off day, or something but I loved it. I went back two days ago and it was great again. I have had BBQ all over the country and KC's is now in my top 3 or 4, in the country not just the Bay Area. All I can say is give them a try.

Bad BBQ.
The links were hard and dry, the ribs were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. This was my worst BBQ experience ever. Not to mention the rude service. I'm waiting until the next time I go to Kansas City before I ever have KC BBQ again!!!!

Spicey Q!.
Stopped by for lunch today and ordered up a 3-way combo platter with 3 pork ribs, links and brisket smothered in a smooth sauce. All the meats were tender and well-smoked. Sauce was tangy and spicy, good but I would have preferred a bit less on my plate. Two small sides of beans/potato salad and some white bread finished off the meal. Quite a bit of food for a bit under $20. Decor is country-style while service was friendly. Seems as if this place has been around a while and has a slew of regulars. A good spot for cue but I still prefer the Back Forty...
