Editorial Review for Zachary's Chicago Pizza – by Mitchell Anderson
The Scene
In this cozy pizza haven, the incessant din of diners mingles with the clamor of a frantic kitchen. Plaques, posters and other Zachary's paraphernalia emphatically plaster the walls in declaration of the unrivaled splendor of its pizza. Piping-hot pies are served in the cramped dining area on wooden stools beside each table.
The Food
Ooey-gooey, crispy and chewy, the stuffed pizzas preserve the luscious flavor of ingredients by sealing them between two layers of dough. The signature Pride and Joy pie, like the other deep-stuffed pizzas, harbors the freshness of an organic garden. Between the golden bed of dough and the top quilt of zesty tomato chunks and secret spices is a moist mix of spinach, mushrooms, melted cheeses and dough. Though most famous for thick, rich pies, the thin-crust Zachary's Special invariably makes omnivores of everyone, with its savory melange of onions, mushrooms and green peppers scattered abundantly around pieces of succulent Italian sausages.

Nice enviorment with friendly waiters ... some wait expected unless off hours. BUT THE POINT IS - that pizza is way too salty and that famous tomato souce on top of the pizza taste like supermarket caned pasta souce, which is very disappointing. The pizza bread is dry and tasteless. It's way worse than my neighborhood pazzeria.
Pros: nice enviornment
Cons: horrible pizza

If you are craving pizza, Zachary’s is the place to go. Fair warning, because of its huge popularity, you may have to wait awhile for a table, but it is totally worth the wait. Insider tip.... order your pizza while you wait. I highly recommend doing this as it does take awhile for the pizza to be baked to perfection. For those of you on the go, you can order pizza by the slice. The menu offers plenty of choices. I ordered the chicken pizza; which topped with baked chicken breast, mushrooms, fresh basil, garlic, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. It was absolutely delicious!!! I can’t wait to go back and try something else.
Pros: Great atmosphere. Friendly service.
Cons: Parking can be hard to find.
