Spicy is VERY spicy.
Quaint little dining room - good for small parties.
We were seated right away, and ordered the thai toast appetizer (delicious!) and two glasses of their $3.75 house wine - what a deal.
Tried the pad ke mow and a duck dish with rice. Pad ke mow was a little sweeter than other places serve it, and I ordered it spicy - which was almost inedible. The duck was cut well, cooked well, and delicious.
Service was prompt.
Will definitely return.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Eating here was a very relaxing experience. The staff was friendly and accomodating even "creating" a dish my fussy 3 year old would eat. Their outdoor eating area is casual with plastic table coverings. The food was quite tasty, quick and inexpensive. Great neighborhood restaurant.
Reminds me of Thailand. For those of you looking for an authentic Thai restaurant, this is it. It reminds me of some of the nicer places I've eaten in Thailand. The ambiance is not great by american standards, but it's got the feel of Thailand and authentic tasting Thai cuisine - not some amerianized version thereof.
Not my first choice. The the service isn't friendly and the food isn't great. I have been here several times, mostly because it is a block away from my home, but out of a choice of other places, it would probably be last on my list. The food is very inconsitent. Everytime I order a dish it usually tastes different then when I had ordered it before. It is either more salty, less salty, less seasoning, more seasoning, missing something, too much of something etc. Sometimes the dishes I order are missing something that they are supposed to have. One time my dish wasn't how I wanted it and they were unwilling to fix it and I didn't tip and they made a very rude comment about it. I don't think I will return. Pearl of Siam is much better. If you want Great service, Great food, Great consitency go to Pearl of Siam.
Yummy!. This is a great inexpensive spot with the best coconut milk soup I've had anywhere. 2 hungry folks filled up for less than $25 including tip. We'll be back -- and we live in SF!
Good cheap Thai, but not the best.
I tend to pick a couple of Thai standards to gauge the price and quality of food at new restaurants I try: Pad Thai and Pad Se Ew, both with tofu although I think you could safely say the "meats" are fairly interchangeable in dishes like this.
Sabuy Sabuy delivers both of these well, although once the Pad Se Ew had tough noodles. Mild tends to be too mild for my tastes, but watch out ordering medium here -- it can knock your socks off if you're not expecting really hot. I get the mild and ask for the little spice rack on the side (sriracha is one of the offerings here, does really well). Pad Se Ew tofu is about $7 and I think the Pad Thai is comparable, although it's been a while since I've gotten that. Great value, fast service and
My new favorite Thai place in the E. Bay. I've lived in the area for years and always passed this one by. The outside is faded and looking past the neon sign in the window all you can see is a counter and a cash register. Never would I have guessed what an amazing restaurant this is. The prices are phenomenal for what you get, with most plates averaging about $6 or $7. The dining area is small and well lit. The white tableclothes contrasted very nicely with the individual fresh irises on each table. Everything was delicious. This is my new favorite Thai place in the east bay.
