Friendly atmosphere and colorful regulars make this modest neighborhood bar a fun place to drink and dance..
The Scene
This gay players' club is located in a notoriously rough area of downtown Oakland, but once inside, there's a fun-loving attitude. It's nondescript on the outside, dim and shabby on the inside, but any night of the week, well-acquainted groups of mostly black men and women squeeze in for a night out. Most spend time socializing in the small, bar/lounge area before working their way back to the even smaller dance floor.
The Draw
Alize, Hennessey, Courvoisier--bartenders keep popular brands up front and ready, plus they're usually generous with their pours. The welcoming attitude and eclectic mix of lifestyles keep people coming back. Lesbians, drag queens, gay men and the people who love them get dressed up to see and be seen in a comfortable spot where they can drink and dance with friends without getting hassled or hustled.
