Outstanding Food!!! Best Vietnamese food for thousands of miles by LEAPS AND BOUNDS!. This is one of our favorite places to eat! The staff is so friendly and the food is awesome! We have been to many Vietnamese restaurants in the bay area, and New York City (where we used to live) and Phuong Nam is BY FAR THE BEST we have ever been to. I highly recommend the Clay-pot Rice and Fresh Spring Rolls! Stop reading this and go there right now!

BEST Vietnamese Food in Oakland/SF! Excellent Service, Nice People, Clean Place.. I'm Vietnamese, I eat out a lot, and I also happen to be a pretty decent cook. This place is the real deal folks. If you haven't tried Vietnamese food or have been disappointed at other places, give this place a shot. I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed.

The young cook is very conscientious about what he puts in his dishes (little fat or oil, no MSG, very fresh vegetables, etc.) One of my favorites is Bun Thit Nuong (that's grilled pork on vermicelli noodles), I could never get tired eating this dish here. The grilled pork is lean, tender and flavorful on a layer of perfectly cooked noodles, which is on top of a mix of mixed lettuce, bean sprouts and mints (ask for extra nuoc cham, the fish sauce that comes with it.)

Depending on individual taste, I find almost everything on the menu is excellent. One of the very special dishes, which you have to call a day in advance to order, is the roasted crab in tamarind sauce, the best anywhere and very affordable...much cheaper than that place across the Bay!

Since it's a little off from the center of town, the place has a small dinner crowd, but that means there's no waiting. Come here and eat, you won't be disappointed!

HOLY COW! THE BEST FOOD in the Bay AREA. This is the absolute best food in the bay area... GET THE CLAY POT RICE... JUST GET IT! An amazing mix of flavors and textures! Everything on the menu is delicious.

Other vietnamese restaurants may look fancier but none have food that even comes close to the food at Phuong Nam.

If you've never tried Vietnamese food, GO HERE FIRST. If you tried it and werent impressed,GO HERE!... if you love Vietnamese food, GO HERE!

THE BEST VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT. This is the best Vietnamese restaurant... that no one knows about. It is packed at lunch with the downtown office crowd, but at night, you have the place to yourself. Amazing -- because the food is delicious! Not just great, like most Vietnamese food, but truly fantastic - delicate, savory, rich, filling... how many adjectives do you need?

This isn't a Pho place - it's an honest-to-goodness Vietnamese restaurant with a huge menu of delicious stuff. I highly recommend the clay pot rice (Cam Thay Cam) which is just too yummy to even describe. Hint: sizzling!

GO! I need you to go eat at this place... I'm worried that they will go under and then where will I eat Cam Thay Cam???!!!
