Nice find in Oakland. I always like the fact this place doesn't jump out on the street. A nice local California/Italian place that has a good crowd, tasteful ambiance, nicely prepared food and reasonable prices. Their pizzas are individual-size, fairly simple but very fresh and tasty. The Petaluma 1/2 herb chicken makes for a wonderful comfort food. I foget what they call it but their version of Cioppino is really good too although the polenta at the bottom is a little rubbery. My only complaint is a pasta w/ shellfish I had once that I suspect might've been reheated in the microwave. Oh yeah, the deserts are handmade and quite good too. You may find similar or better restaurants, but everyone seems to have a really enjoyable time and if you don't live in Montclair, a visit there will almost feel like you're getting out of town.

Wonderful. We have gone to Italian Colors in the past for special occasions and were always treated graciously and the food was always first rate. When my mother retired after 41 years, her retirement dinner was held here. They treated her like and angel. The guest raved about the food, and the wonderful treatment. There was complimentary wine and desserts for all. She had a night that she will always remember. The ambience is lovely. The guitar music is subtle and lovely. Not at all distracting. Men, there is a florist stand nearby that make beautiful flower arrangements to impress the ladies.

What a find!. Great restaurant that has a loyal following. Food is always great, the guitar player has talent, and by far the best Martini's in the East Bay.

Food is a touch over priced but that's Bay Area living. This is a romantic place, with good lighting and clientel that does not where overalls or jeans.

Local favorite. This is one of those restaurants you can always count on for an enjoyable and tasty dinner. My wife and I have been going there for years, and believe the following are its strenghts:

Ambience

Outside seating on nice days

Friendly and courteous staff

Changing daily specials

Wide variety of options

Consistent, high quality food

Kid friendly

Reasonably priced, good wine selection

I am not sure what one of the other raters was talking about, regarding the guitar player. I know they have used a couple of fill-ins, but Michael, who plays there regularly is great. He also played at our wedding. Whenever we show up, he automatically plays our favorite tune.

Fantastic. There are so many good things to say about this restaurant. First of all, food is the greatest. The presentation is always beautiful but the real pleasure is in how wonderful it is.

The service and staff are top notch.

The atmosphere is very lovely and comfortable.

The wine selection leaves little to be desired.

For almost 13 years, I have experienced wonderful times and great food with the owner/chef/staff of this establishment.
