Someone forgot to raise the prices with the times at this glowing, green haunt, one of Oakland's oldest.. The Scene
Open since the wee 1900s, now the only signs of any age are a light-up shuffleboard game and the vintage neon sign out front. Otherwise, it's an austere bar, with counters made of cheap, faux marble lined with stained wood. Green panels let soft, tinted light illuminate the mirrors; but neon beer signs and fluorescent lighting primarily color the space, dumping it into the present day. Sedate customers lip sync to Isaac Hayes or Tom Waits.
 
The Draw
Drinks here might be the cheapest in the Bay Area, like four bucks for one helluva stiff mixed drink with top-shelf liquor. Smitty's somehow sells smokes for $4.50. For those who expect to pay $1 for pool--get outta here. Only two quarters necessary; use the rest on the jukebox.

Smitty's - An Awesome Neighboorhood Bar!. Let's see--what can I say about smitty's? It's close, it's laid-back, it's relatively cheap, Mike the bartender is TOO CUTE and it's smoker friendly!
