Good Coffee, Great Humor, Good Political Discussions, and Good Music. The atmosphere is charming. There is great service. It is a family run business. The proprietor is polite and friendly. They sell "Fair Trade" coffee. The location is pleasant. It is directly across from the grassy area of Lake Merritt. Great for lunch... tuna, cheese toast, turkey, roast beef, and vegetable sandwiches. There are a host of desserts, including delicious carmel cake and bean pies. The music varies from soft, to jazz, to rhythm and blues. You may enjoy your coffee indoors or outdoors. However, you cannot hear the music outdoors.…
Not your average coffeehouse but i love the oaktown vibe. BIG windows look out on lakeside park and keep it nice and warm. There is outside seating, too. It's next to the Ethiopian Community Center and has a great, very diverse vibe. excellent blues, jazz and R&B piped in (hence the coffee with a beat). has sandwiches and typical coffee munchies - e.g. bagels. not fancy or quaint but has real character and fits the hood.…
