Dr. Gentry is fantastic. I discovered her a few years ago when I was dealing with a girly medical issue - long story short, she was amazing in dealing with a scary problem. She spends lots of time with her patients and is great with questions. I had outpatient surgery and have been fine ever since! She's definitely a popular doctor, so call early to make an appointment. Dr. Chan (the other OB-GYN in her practice) is also fantastic, so see her if you can't get in to Dr. Gentry. Five stars!

I heard about Dr. Gentry when we first moved to Oakland from SF & wanted to start trying for our first baby! I loved her at first meeting- smart, organized & funny. We were lucky & got pregnant easily & had a smooth pregnancy. My husband & I looked forward to every appt. She delivered our first baby at Summit six years ago- she made delvery smooth & I knew we were in amazing hands! Two years later, we delivered our second child & had to go to Alta Bates- the only person who knew what she was doing & was terrific was Dr. Gentry. She always listened to me and responded- more than I can say about any of the nurses at Alta Bates. She had to be in an emergency birth two rooms down when my son came out. No she couldn't deliver my son, but she kept checking in, makng sure we were ok. She was so apologetic yet we knew she had to make an important choice and she never missed a beat! My two kids are 3 & 6 & thriving.

Very professional, I felt I was treated with respect. Dr. Gentry's expertise using the Da Vinci (robotics) procedure had given me a lovely and almost pain free recovery. I am delighted.

Thanks to Dr. Gentry I have a happy healthy little boy which I am clear would NOT have been here if it wasn t for her. After she asked about my family history she suspected that I may be a high risk pregnancy if I was even able to get pregnant. I had not even really thought about getting pregnant. She did some lab work just to see if I had any issues which needed to be addressed before conception. She is a wealth of information from her own personal issues to what it really feels like to have surgeries, cesarean sections and basic life stresses. It didn t feel like a cold doctor visit with her.... ever. Yes I had to wait. Why? Because thousands of other women know how great she is. Would you go to a restaurant with no one eating? There is a reason her waiting room is packed, that she has to leave and reschedule patients in the middle of the day to deliver babies or do emergency surgery. I felt great when I realized that one day she would be doing that for me. Anyway, despite her busy practice and 2 small kids, I felt very well taken care of. She would sometimes call me with lab results at 8pm, starting the phone conversation with, ... I know it s late...no bad news... I just wanted to be sure to get back to you. ..... if you have issues or questions, Dr. Gentry stops, slows down, and listens.

...If you want someone who is one of the best in her field and will take her time with you when it's your turn, she's the BEST fit. I felt so thankful when I was able to be seen by her, that I didn't mind the wait. I really needed her help. The thing is, maybe if she had demanding patients that didn't offer flexibility, she would never have had the time to take a new patient like myself-or see me for that matter. I met her in June and I can say that after suffering for four years, my condition is no more.
