37.800126 -122.271197Best sushi around for the price- but plan ahead arrive first. My headline says it all. Nice informal place to squeeze in and eat great sushi and sashimi. My wife and I drive in here from very far away to line up at the front door before opening time, get a table, drink some sake , and then go over to Cafe Trieste for a mocha and relax before heading out to meet friends in the city across town. It's a "best kept secret" but if you arrive late you could wait for hours to eat there- not a good impromptu stop for that reason. You've got to plan ahead. Too bad they won't send out texts so you can go to a cafe and wait for your turn. Many people end up waiting out in the cold for hours. Hey, I've done it! And with good conversation I didn't really mind. It's part of the adventure when going out in crazy SF. This is one of those places that offers good value since they keep overhead and rent at a minimum. Great sushi though, served with nice hot green tea of a good quality and taste. Can't be beat.
Fast Service. Service is great. We were promptly seated. Orders taken and delivered without delay. Lots of choices so those who don't like "raw" food can enjoy the meal too. Very reasonable prices.
best sushi in oakland.
this is one of our very favorite sushi places! the staff is friendly, there's never a wait to sit down, the tables are nice and big, they're open relatively late, there's plenty of cheap parking in the garage, and best of all - the food is fantastic! the tempura is excellent, the fish is always fresh and wonderful (mind you, the maguro is not as flavorful as it could be, but the shiromaguro more than makes up for it). give them a try, you won't regret it!
(re: "romantic" or "good for kids"...could be, but it depends on your definition of romantic, and depends on the kids)
finally, good sushi in oakland!.
fresh sushi in Oakland, yeah!
it's in chinatown, in a mall complex but what a find. the staff is very friendly, the menu is pretty creative and most importantly the sushi is fresh and not overpriced. feel free to ask for recommendations, i always try something new whenever i go and they can accomodate large groups. it's very spacious and it has an atmosphere!
$$$, but good..
Great sushi...extremely fresh tasting. We had some premium Toro whose price was listed as "Market Price." It was our fault that we didn't ask the price, as the 2 pieces we had were $10. The up side is that the Toro was the most amazing, delicate, and flavorful piece of fish I think I've ever eaten.
The all-around sushi basic - California Rolls - have an unexpected touch: they're topped with roe which adds a nice crunchy, fishy flavor.
The decor is modern and sleek. The service was a little harried, which was odd since the retaurant was not especially crowded.
