In Short – A raucous dining room holds dozens of tables, many with chatting groups sharing plates of spring rolls, beef or seafood courses, noodles and vegetables or piquant firepot soups. The multipage French-colonial-inspired menu guarantees everyone--adults and children alike--will find something to like. Diners choose from Vietnamese standbys such as lemon-grass chicken, cubed beef steak or the adventurous salty prawns, a favorite of many regulars. Vegetarians have a choice of more than a dozen tofu and vegetable dishes.

snappy service during weekday lunches combined with a very reasonably-priced lunch menu make this a great place for business lunches.
Best Vietnamese Comfort Fodo in Town!

I love Le Cheval because of one dish: the birds nest. Imagine stir-fried vegetables, chicken, shrimp, and calimari, in a great savory sauce, over a salad-bowl-sized noodle bird's nest. It's fantastic. Reminds me of the crispy noodles at the Slanted Door. Anyway, you can order this for take-out, and it's a GREAT meal after a long day. I've had some other dishes here, and they were so-so. But this dish, my friends, is fantastic.
- Pros: Crispy Birds Nest
- Cons: Spare ribs...mine didn't have much meat.
Best Vietnamese and Seafood in the East Bay

This restaurant and their cuisine is the best I have found for the quality and price. I love the ginger crab when it's available and the calamari salad is excellent! I have tried clay pots at other restaurants and Le Cheval's is by far the winner! The food always comes out very quickly which is great for me as I have children who also love the food! Another treat for me and my kids is the impressive flaming bananas dessert with their yummy vanilla bean ice cream..always a crowd pleaser! The parking is usually very easy and within close walking distance. This restaurant should be a regular for those of us who enjoy different and delicious food!
