Overview – Covering 100 acres of Knowland Park, the Oakland Zoo is home to more than 400 animals from around the world. Several distinct habitats are recreated here; African Veldt, African Savanna, Australian Outback and a Tropical Rainforest. This is a Zoo that people should really see. There animals seem very happy and very well taken care of.

There are special events year-round, including a family overnight camp out and lectures. Call the special events hotline for information: (510) 632-9525 ext. 133.
Know Before You Go:
The zoo closes during "inclement weather." If it's raining, chances are you won't get in. Otherwise, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day are the only days the zoo is closed.
