too long a wait, too hot, poor food , high corkage fee.
We waited over an hour for our meal. The food was disappointing- small portions, not a great sea bass and prime rib was overcooked. We brought our own wine and to our surprise the corkage fee was $20! This was the first time we had brought our own wine, so maybe this is the standard price these days but it used to be about $8 in most restaurants according to our friends.
The worst thing however was that there was no air conditioning or atleast it wasn't being used. We did not think this made sense as this was in Walnut Creek on a rather warm day/evening. The uncomfortable environment, long wait, the disappointing food and expensive corkage fee made the overall experience very disappointing.
Holy Wine Month!. Had a fantastic dinner at Lark Creek tonight. They are having a special deal on wine and it was only half price! We had to wait quite a while to get a table outside, but really enjoyed the al fresco dining. I had the summer lasagna the waiter recommended and thought it was delicious. The dessert was also quite good, but I wished it was bigger in size.
Moody waitress.
One Saturday I had a late lunch with my 18Th years old son. It was around 2pm.
We were not excited over the restaurant menu. Very simple and not much of a choice. Hopefully their menu is better for dinner.
Also our waitress was moody. It was actually my son who said it first. He ask me: What's with her!?
She could not be too busy. The restaurant was almost empty. Each of us had a salad. I got glass of wine, my son get Pepsi. We ask for water but never get any. She could not remember to bring it.
We ask a busboy if he could bring us some water and he was very nice and we got our water in no time.
We won't coming back. There is so many other choices!
a real restaurant. Walnut Creek is short on nice places to eat; Lark Creek is one of the few that make the cut. Dinner here seems special, even if you do it five days a week. My one disappointment, our waiter suggested an extra side dish in a manner that bordered on disingenuous.
Too Much for Great Food, but.... Now this is it...the best American style food in the Bay Area. Three of us four had the calves liver specialty. It was divine...the mashed potatoes, caramalized onions, and apples the tender, tasty liver sat on just heightened the taste sensation. The fourth person had the calamari, which was presented in a creamy sauce unlike any I've ever seen. Ambience is superb, reasonably quiet without being dead, and well appointed. The service was very attentive and helpful when making those important decisions like "which desert do I want". Lark Creek Inn is a bit pricey; so I wouldn't go often, but for special occasions, it's the place to go.
