Not very nice........ I would agree with other reviews I've read here about the owner..........really a rude person. If you're buying or exchanging, she can be friendly and nice. (Sometimes.) But if you have a return........OMG, she is sooooo rude. I, too, have walked into the store dressed in my "walking" clothes, and have been looked up and down like I'm going to steal something. Even when I purchased over $300.00 in jewelry at X-mas gifts, she had a really snotty attitude when I asked for a box for each piece that I was buying. Her employes are very nice and especially helpful, but I don't understand why they work for this woman. I've also seen her talk to her employees in a very short and condescending manner, when they've simply asked her a question.......really inexcusable. I only go there when I absolutely need a gift that I can't find elswhere. The store does have an amazing inventory.…
Good place to shop!. This is a great place and has everything imaginable that you could think of! I usually stop in once a month and love to check out the new inventory! I can never go in for just 15 minutes – too much to see – if you want to really check out the store make sure you have more than just an hour!…
I couldn't agree more with WCMom!. I take yoga classes nearby and I often stop at Kitchen Table. I've spent more money there than I'd like to admit, but I'll never go back. The owner is unbelievably rude and snooty--I assumed it was because I wasn't nicely dressed (my yoga gear is not terribly stylish, I admit). But the other day I noticed that she was just as awful to a perfectly turned-out older lady who was trying to decide which tablecloth to buy from the sale display. From now on, I'll make the trek to Berkeley and spend my hard-earned dough on 4th Street--The Gardener has much better stuff, anyway.…
I'm done shopping at Kitchen Table. I have been shopping consistently at Kitchen Table for over 10 years. The store has a lovely section of items but I have been frustrated over the years with the owner's rude and often condesending attitude toward the customers and employees. Yesterday was the last straw. For Christmas, my 13 year old son gave me a heart key chain from Kitchen Table. Within a few weeks, the heart had fallen off the key chain so I brought it to the store for a replacement. This is the first time I have ever brought back an item because of a problem. The store owner, who should know me by now but never seems to show any familiarity or friendly recognition, looked at the broken key chain and said that I was the second person to bring it in with this problem. But then she said that I should not have used the key chain with my car keys (the item did not come with any instructions or warnings, it is sold as a 'key chain'). She said I should have only used it for my house keys (don't most people have their car and house keys on the same ring?) and that she would not give me a replacement key chain because it was "my fault" that it broke. The key chain cost $7.50. Then she walked away before I could even let her know that I was going to buy a new one anyway because I didn't want my son to see that his gift had broken so quickly. I had to go find a sales lady to ring it up. I am done shopping there; a good customer deserves to be treated better.…
Best Place to Buy Gifts. Kitchen Table is the first place I go to by gifts for friends. Their merchandise is different from what you find at other gift/home stores and they have EVERYTHING. The service is fantastic without being overbearing. They do an incredible job with gift wrap and will even wrap a dish towel with flair.…
