GREAT FOOD. This place was GREAT. From the Staff to the food, clean, etc. Great place to take the wife for a night in Walnut. You wont run into young kids at this place. They are a tad bit on the Pricey side, but well worth it.
Excellent Dining Experience!. I had never dined at Il Fornaio before and decided to give it a try with a friend over the weekend. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek and a perfect place to end a day of great shopping and sightseeing. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us outside on the patio. Our server was amazing, prompt with delivering our drinks and very helpful in answering our menu questions. The food was spectacular and dessert was even better. We received outstanding service from the time we walked in the front door up to the time we left, and felt very welcomed. The staff was knowledgeable about the food, wine, and dessert selection, and made for a wonderful dining experience. I can't wait to go back!
Just Like Eating in Italy. I've never been to Italy, however I'm pretty sure that eating at Il Fornaio is as close as I'm ever going to get. This was a great experience, I took my mom and the family here for her birthday and we had an amazing time. The food was exceptional, the staff was friendly, and the menu was abundant. I wasn't sure at first if the evening was going to go well, when I first walked in the hostest said she couldn't find my reservation, but that didn't seem to be a problem she seated us right away outside on their beautiful patio. I hadn't been to this Il Forniao in such a long time, but I'm glad to see that nothing has changed since then. I also recommend going during their Festa Regionale, each item on the Festa menu is from a specific region of Italy that Il Fornaio is highlighting that month. And if you sign up for a Passaporto for Festa Regionale you get a free gift every month you eat off of their Festa Menus. It's a great deal!!
Bad time at Il Fornaio. Do not eat here; it is as simple as that. They actually served my wife an un-opened mussel as part of her meal. For those that don't know that means it was dead when it was cooked and that is not good (bad things happen inside dead shellfish!!!). Of course they cooked her meal again, however, by that time my meal was cold and not very good either. To add insult to injury rather than taking the time to understand the issue and offering to make us happy customers some guy in a suit (I assume he thought we should know he was some type of manager, but since he did not bother to say he could have been the head bus boy or valet parker) and gave us coupons for a free dessert or drink the next time we come. I was flabbergasted, whatever happened to quality in service! BTW... I tore up the coupons as I will never go back or refer anyone to that particular Il Fornaio. Please do not hold this review against other Il Fornaio's as I was recently had a meal that was well over $1000 at the Il Fornaio Manhattan Beach, CA and it was very good. Also before I forget this was not the only problem of the night... just the top of the list.
Going down hill !!!.
Took my family for my daughters birthday celebration. Just the 4 of us. Seemed to overwhelm the server. She poured the wine sampling for me to taste, then went on to pour for my ladies and left my glass with just the sampling. Had to refill our glasses ourselves. Ordered an entre that was featured as a special, after 30 minutes the server returned to tell me they were all out (Should she have known befroe that?)
Oh well, won't be back
